      If you feel your painting style is to laborious and time consuming and you want to free yourself from a palette of too many colors and brushes, try some 15 minute watercolor paintings. You'll love the loose and spontaneous feeling of fast painting. This is not a rushed style of painting as it might appear. Actually the painting is very relaxed because you don't have to focus on a lot of details.

     My method of watercolor painting is founded on over 20 years of studying watercolor design and the elements & principles of painting sound watercolor paintings. After painting a few fast watercolor paintings you won't even need to make a rough sketch because you will be implementing the tools of design into your thought process as you paint. To achieve loose, spontaneous, translucent and transparent watercolor paintings you need to paint with the biggest brush you can use for the project and paint as quickly as possible with the fewest number of brush strokes. That's really the secret to great watercolor paintings in a nut shell.

      I get comments and emails all the time from watercolor artists that paint amazing detailed watercolor paintings that can take days or weeks to complete saying they want to try my method of fast painting because they love the outcome of the paintings and the spontaneous and bold effects. They are getting bored and don't have enough time anymore to paint for days on a watercolor painting and then have it go south and they have to start over again from scratch. If I don't like where one of my paintings is going, I throw it aside and do another one. All I've lost is 10 or 12 minutes!

                    A Word About My Workshops

    My workshops are designed especially for anyone not having a lot of experience in watercolors or someone developing a frustration level with watercolors. You'll learn the basics of design and composition to make your watercolor paintings advance to the next level. You don't need any painting experience or background to paint 15 minute watercolors. We'll show you everything you need in our workshops. You also don't need any special drawing skills as we only use very basic outline drawings. I am constantly surprised at the number of watercolor painters with college degrees in art, that don't use proper design and composition techniques in their watercolor paintings. Sure they can tell you which artist lived in certain centuries and provide sophisticated terminology and names for the style of painters they were, but they don't understand Variety, Alternation, Value Sketches, Center Of Interest, Dominance or many of the other basic essentials that even the master painters of the 16 century used in all their paintings. Proper design, composition and perspective is a must if you want your paintings to "POP" with freshness.

    My painting technique utilizes the basic foundations of the watercolor medium: Paint quickly with big brushes using the minimum number of brush strokes. This is really the secret of doing fresh, spontaneous and transparent watercolor paintings. Get in quick and get out, and don't go back in again.

   I call my painting method "Watercolor Paintings in Less Than 15 Minutes". I'll show you how to use some design techniques that will allow you to paint beautiful watercolors in less than 15 minutes. You'll be amazed how easy it is to paint a watercolor painting. Anyone can do 15 minute watercolor paintings. I only focus on the basic design concepts that will make your watercolor paintings come to life in One Day Workshops. I only use the the three primary watercolor paints (Red, Yellow and Blue) and three different sizes of big paint brushes ( 2 inch, 1.5 inch and 1/2 inch flat brushes). So the supplies are relatively inexpensive.
