Art town of Matlacha. Roy visits Matlacha daily when he is in
town. He fishes
the waters surrounding Matlacha on every occasion he gets.
Roy Fuller has been painting watercolors for 20 years and
painted the Bob Ross style oil paintings several years prior to
undertaking watercolors. He has studied and attended workshops
with internationally famous watercolor artists such as Tony
Couch, Tom Lynch, Bob Fabian and others. He
has bookcases full of watercolor painting books by Tony Couch,
Tom Lynch, Cathy Johnson and many others. He has been
conducting watercolor workshops in the United States and Costa
Rica for many years now and currently focuses his workshops on
design and fast painting techniques. Roy believes the formula
for success in watercolors is to plan your watercolor painting
carefully from a design standpoint and then apply the
watercolors as quickly as possible. This eliminates the habit of
going back into the painting and over working it. Roy is the

Roy Fuller has an Electrical Engineering Technology degree and
worked in the medical engineering industry for over 30 years
after completing one of the country's first biomedical
engineering internships through Humana Hospital. He
started working as a biomedical engineer for hospitals after
graduation from college with honors and worked as a medical
equipment field service engineer installing and repairing
hospital CT's or "Cat Scanners" and MRI's or magnetic resonate
imaging. He eventually accepted a medical equipment sales
position with a major international medical firm selling ct,
mri, cath labs, angiography, ultrasound, mammography, clinical
networking and other medical systems in Florida. Prior to that
he served in the US Navy for six years with a tour in Vietnam
seeing combat action. Roy has many hobbies including tennis,
fishing,
short story writing,
poetry and song writing. He continues to write songs and is
founder of Able Music
based out of Nashville, Tennessee. He is an accomplished
musician and songwriter
and is currently co-writing several songs with Artists in
England and in the United States. He had several Top 10 pick hit
songs in Billboard that he wrote.
Roy applies all his technical
background to his watercolor painting process. He spent many
years perfecting his fast painting method of watercolor
painting. He teaches students to paint loose and free.
Watercolors are meant to be free, self expressing, spontaneous,
luminous and applied with the minimum number of brush strokes.
